Precision guide to cut string slot locations
Overall size is 13" x 1 1/8"
Flexible stainless steel construction
How to use this gauge:
1. Mark the position of the center of the twp outside strings. These are generally 1/8" or 3mm from each side of the nut. See Note A Photo.
2. Move the guide with the Bass and Trebble locations in the correct position and find the marks that exactly match the outer string location marks making sure you have the correct number of string markings and simply mark the string centers. See Note B Photo.
3. Note: If you are making a number of nuts of one size mark the two outside string markings with a marking pen.
4. Can be used for single or double string setups.
Note: There are two sets of slots on each side of this tool. One set is shorter and closer to the edge of the tool. The other set is longer, do not mix the shorter and longer slots, use one or the other.
Once you have done this, you will be able to slot the nut in the locations needed.
Made from flexible stainless steel so it will be conformal to both arched or flat nuts.
Please Note, it may take a few times of working with this the first time to get the locations correct. Please try on a scrap nut first to make sure you are locating everything correct. Use a pencil to mark and locate the strings, check your dimensions for correctness prior to slotting the nut.
